Our Club

The leading hockey club in the south of the Isle of Man.

Our Story

Rooted in the south of the island

Castletown Hockey Club was built to give the south of the Isle of Man a proper home for hockey, and today we're it. Six mixed teams, four ladies teams, and three Men's teams all playing across every division of the Manx Hockey Association.

We have always been a social club first: a place where friendships are made on the pitch and kept up long after the final whistle. But don't mistake friendly for soft. Every one of our teams love to compete with the best the island has to offer.

Our Junior Section

Where the next team starts

We field a strong junior section, with experienced coaches giving up their Thursday evenings to develop the next generation of Castletown players who regularly go on to play for island teams at Junior levels.

Under 10s, Under 12s and Under 15s all train together on Thursday nights at the Castle Rushen High School astro, feeding straight into our mixed, ladies and men's sides as players move up through the club.

Our History

The Club Story

Castletown continues to support the southern community as the place to play hockey, fielding teams across every division of the Manx Hockey Association. As history has shown, our superb Ladies A team has been a cornerstone of the club's success and are the current back-to-back Premier League and Cup champions.

This is a short version for now. A fuller club history, with the club's founding story and earlier seasons, is something we're looking to build out over time. In the meantime, why not check out recent season's league standings live in the League Tables archive, and the story of each Awards Night is in Social.

What We Stand For

Three things that don't change

01

Social First

Hockey is better with friends. We're a club people stay at for years, on the pitch and off it.

02

Safe for Everyone

From first sticks at Under 10s to our senior sides, player welfare and safeguarding come first.

03

Genuinely Competitive

All teams, every one of them playing to win in its division of the Manx Hockey Association.

How the Club Runs

Captains, teams & the AGM

The club is run successfully by a committee of volunteers who are usually either current or former players, elected each year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Every team gets a captain, appointed each year around the club AGM. From there, each captain sets up their own team group to keep players (and parents, for our juniors) in the loop on selection, fixtures and socials.

Club-wide news travels through various channels and we have created this website to keep everyone informed as regularly as possible.

Player Welfare

Policies & Safeguarding

Castletown Hockey Club follows the safeguarding policies and welfare guidance set out by the Manx Hockey Association and England Hockey. All young people have the right to be safe and enjoy their hockey, and every adult working with juniors has a duty to help make that happen.
